JUNE 15, 2018 - HALE PONO BOYS & GIRLS CLUB SUMMER VISIT TO KAUHALE PRESERVE

Nā keiki (youth) from the Hale Pono Ewa Beach Boys & Girls Club visited Kauhale Preservation Area on June 15th. Accompanied by Kumu Ku‘uwainani Eaton, Kim Kalama, Kerrie Prause, and staff from Hale Pono, the youth learned about native plants, preservation of the cultural resources, and worked with plants in the making of natural dyes for printing cloth and paper. The keiki learned a few mo‘olelo (traditions) of the area, and went home with a keepsake they made from the plants growing in Kauhale Preserve. To learn more about cultural programs and preservation of  heritage resources of the Honouliuili coastal region email kupuna@hoakaleifoundation.org.
